Helping Hands of Putnam County Director
Helping Hands is a non-profit organization that helps residents of Putnam County who are in emergency situations. For the last 40+ years, Helping Hands has used a combination of government grants and private donations to fill those occasional gaps in people's budgets and help people with emergencies by providing groceries, rent help, utility bill payments, transportation costs, prescription assistance, and a variety of other assistance.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Putnam County Helping Hands Director will have overall operational responsibility for Helping Hands staff and execution of its mission.
Leadership and Management
Oversee the general operation of Helping Hands.
Ensure ongoing and consistent quality of finance and administration.
Engage Helping Hands staff, volunteers, board members, and financial supporters.
Support a Board of Directors and serve as ex-officio member.
Fundraising and Communications
Expand local and federal revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing operations.
Refine all aspects of communications—from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand.
Be an external local presence that publishes and communicates program results with an emphasis on the successes of the local program.
The Director will be thoroughly committed to the Helping Hands mission. All candidates should have proven leadership and management experience.
Specific qualifications include:
College degree preferred or equivalent experience.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheets.
Desired qualifications include:
Bookkeeping, financial and accounting background.
Past non-profit or public service experience.
Experience with accounting software and managing budgets.
Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Helping Hands of Putnam County is a charitable non-profit organization that provides emergency services (such as food, utilities, medical expenses, rent and gas vouchers to doctor appointments) to low-income Putnam County persons and their families.
What We Do
We provide the following services to low-income families and families in emergency situations in Putnam County. We are open 9am-12pm and 1pm-3pm, Monday through Friday, by appointment only. Please call 931-526-3838 to make an appointment.
We provide emergency food to low-income families in Putnam County.
We provide emergency financial assistance with utility bills.
We provide emergency financial assistance with rent.
We provide gas vouchers for out of town medical appointments.
We provide financial assistance with prescription medications that are not controlled substances.
